A Moment of Transformation?
A look at just how big a change may be coming to politics, America and the world

Amory Lovins and other top speakers coming together for this day-long event on March 12th in Washington D.C. to discuss the potential of this moment in history

On the Presidential campaign trail this year we’ve repeatedly heard the call for change. Some have called for transformational change, others have even said that America is at a defining moment in its history. Are we in a transformative moment in our politics and the world at large? To take a deeper look at this moment in American history come to a free day-long gathering on March 12th at the Capitol Hilton in Washington DC, put on by NDN and the New Politics Institute.

Consider what is happening all around us. A fundamental restructuring to a very different global economy. A reworking of the world order with the rise of 21st century powers like China, India and Brazil. A vast migration of the world’s peoples across borders, and an America going through its most profound demographic transformation in its history. An across-the-board transition to new technologies like wireless telecommunications, biotech and clean energy technology. And the emergence of a new array of 21st century challenges ranging from climate change to global pandemics to global terrorism.

We’re also witnessing a dramatic shift in fortunes between the two political parties, from Republican to Democrat, and between ideologies, from conservative to progressive. We’re watching the rise of new constituencies and political actors like Hispanics and the young Millennial Generation. And we are seeing how powerful new media and technology tools are changing the way Americans connect to politics. American politics is now filled with demands for bold new strategies, ambitious new agendas, and deep systemic change – in short what many might call transformational change.

We’ll have a line-up of terrific speakers [1] laying out this new narrative, including Amory Lovins, the famous head of the Rocky Mountain Institute, who has long championed transformative yet practical policies for rapidly greening the economy, as laid out in his most recent book: Winning the Oil Endgame. Other speakers are just coming out with big books: Robert Shapiro, author of Futurecast: How Superpowers, Populations, and Globalization Will Change the Way You Live and Work, and Morley Winograd and Michael Hais, coauthors of Millennial Makeover: MySpace, YouTube, and the Future of American Politics.

We will have plenty of time for discussion among those who gather like yourself. So hold the date. Be sure to check back with us [2] in the meantime for more information, updates, etc.

Date: March 12th, 10:00am - 6:00pm
